A woman has spoken of the “unspeakable pain” she felt after leaving her dog at home after it suffered a serious heart attack.
The woman, who did not want to be named, said she woke up at 3am on Monday to find her dog was still alive.
“I was so shocked that I went straight to the vet,” she said.
“They didn’t even know if the dog had died, or that I had left it outside.”
The woman said she felt “like my dog had been kicked in the head” by the noise of her dog barking and the barking of her neighbours.
“The dog was barking and it was so loud and I thought my pet had died,” she told news.com.au.
“My pet died and I was left alone with my dog at the house.”
I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way before.
“It’s really upsetting, it’s terrible. “
All of us have had pets and we’ve been left alone and they just bark,” she added.
The vet who treated the dog said it had suffered “a severe heart attack”. “
If I hadn’t left my dog in my room, I don’t know if I would have been able to find it again.”
The vet who treated the dog said it had suffered “a severe heart attack”.
“I’m sure this is going to be an ongoing nightmare for him and his family,” the vet, who was not named, told newscom.org.au of the woman.
“We will be seeing him for the rest of his life.”
The dog’s owner, who is also a nurse, said the woman’s behaviour was “unfortunate”.
“This woman has not been trained to be a responsible pet owner,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
“She should have left her dog alone when I left her home.”
